This chic kitchen designed by Robin Loh-Harban of Bulthaup by Kitchen Architecture, proves that modern kitchens can feel warm and inviting. 'People associate the Bulthaup aesthetic with acres of shiny white, but we also do timber to the same luxurious standards. This rough-sawn, naural grey oak is cut across the grain, creating a textural, lightly ridged finish. It has been paired with our core laminate "B3" units in "Clay". The Philippe Starck aluminium "Hudson" chairs used to be in the owners old office, but add a contemporary edge to the wooden dining table.'

Elegant Green Kitchen with White Units
Designer Martin Brudnizki's compact west London flat perfectly demonstrates the cleverly layered look of which he is a master. The small kitchen is given an aura of calm by the soft colour scheme, enlivened by house plants. It is a loosely open space that compliments the flow of the flat. The paint is a fresh green, while the walls of the adjacent sitting and dining areas are covered in a green birch-coloured seagrass.

In Alice Von Baum's enchanting Goa home, the limewashed open-plan kitchen-dining area with its high ceilings is a cool and airy space - a relief from the heat - lit by a number of glass panels inserted where roof tiles have been removed. The floors throughout the space are made of polished concrete with a white marble-chip terrazzo effect, and the large, open space allows an exhibit of Alice's eclectic mix of furniture and objects, something of a guide to her life and travels - from Portobello Road and continental Europe to all over India.
